KVM and serial console switches

KVM switch stands for Keyboard, Video, Mouse switch. This tool enables a single keyboard , video monitor and mouse to be used to control more than one computer one at a time by switching between systems.

Some servers are controlled using a Serial Console. These were difficult to switch but new products are now available that also allow the switching of serial console ports. Some switches can control a mix of KVM and Serial servers from one screen.

Single User KVM Switches

Supports 1- 64 simultaneous users. Uses CAT5 UTP cabling to connect to servers via convertor module (CIM) and uses CAT5 UTP to connect to users via User Modules.

Recommended where many users are spread over many locations and where CAT5 cabling is the preferred cabling solution.

Serial Console Port switches

If your systems use a serial console interface you can either use a Rose UltraView or UltraMatrix with the multi-platform option or use a dedicated serial console port switch. A console port switch will only interface with serial devices and will allow a console or a remote software session to operate many serial devices.

The switch includes a colour VT220 terminal emulator.

Connects 2 users on serial consoles simultaneously to 32 console ports. Recommended for 19" rack application.

Rack mount TFT Screens

Rack mount TFT screens are a useful space saver in cabinets. When combined with keyboard and mouse pad into a compact 1U drawer they offer maximum space savings and convenience. The rackmount panels can be mounted onto the back frame of a Sigma Network Rack to create a CCTV or systems monitoring station.

CyberView LCD TFT keyboard drawer

A range of 1U high monitor, keyboard and touch pad drawers. Available in 15" and 17" screen sizes, with or without integral kvm switch, with Cherry or Laptop style keyboards and separately sliding monitors.

CyberView LCD TFT panels

A range of 6U, 8U and 9U rackmount Class A LCD panels are available in 15", 17" and 19" screen sizes. High bright units are sunlight readable. Video input options of 15pin VGA, Composite Video or S-Video.

KVM and Serial Extenders

If you don't want to work next to your computers, you can relocate the keyboard monitor and mouse to where you want them and connect back to the computer or switch via CAT5 UTP cable or fibre optic cable. These extenders can also be used to extend audio and serial signals over extended distances.

Environmental Control and Monitoring
